Another Wednesday, another peek at my current works in progress.
Day to Night cross stitch
Still loving the soothing symmetry of this quilt-inspired design. I’ve dabbled in designing my own patterns and choosing the color palette is trickier than it seems at first glance! Some floss colors seem completely different alone vs alongside other colors; most of these floss colors seem like drab shades of brown or red on their own, but together I love how they depict the shades of sunrise and sunset. All that to say, I’m trying to get the hang of designing and I have a new appreciation for this muted, earthy color palette!

Toddler Pillowcases
I’m trying to use up my stash of minky scraps, and a batch of 7 toddler-sized pillowcases just about does the job. I used this free Jack and Jill travel pillow pattern from Fat Quarter Shop (without the prairie point border). They’re quick to put together, it’s just slow going with small children around… as you can see.

Now I’m looking for my next sewing project… and I think I’m going to start a Christmas quilt! It feels a little early in the year to think about winter holidays, but realistically I need to get started if I want to finish the quilt top and have it quilted by a longarmer.
I LOVE this OAM QST pattern by my friend Megan of Tiny Orchard Quilts so I bought some red, green, and white fabric over the weekend. You can grab the (free!) pattern here and watch the Youtube tutorial here.

I’m excited!

That’s all for now!
Interesting note re: the floss colors. Jon looks very interested as well!
Congrats for all you get done with two little ones for “company”!
