Happy Thanksgiving from our Thankful Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year we followed @BusyToddler’s lead and made a Thankful Turkey! It took just a couple minutes to make a turkey and feathers out of construction paper, and it’s all held together with painters tape. Every day we talked with Amelia about what she is thankful for and added a new feather to the wall.

It’s been a huge hit this year!

Explaining what “thankful” means to a toddler is pretty abstract, but it led to lots of funny conversations about who and what Amelia loves (usually whatever is right in front of her, like the food she’s eating!).

A few favorites:

Jon (got the first feather honor!)
cozy blanket
Mimi (Amelia’s pretend friend)
Donuts with Dada
Amelia
messy cheese

I’m saving these feathers as a keepsake and can’t wait to keep this new tradition going next year.

Wherever you are today, I hope you’re surrounded by food and good company. I have so, so much to be thankful for this year!
