Book Chat: Feminist Icon Cross-Stitch

One of the perks of (past-tense) working in the publishing industry is knowing people behind the scenes of cool new books… especially when your former co-workers are awesome people who still send you new titles that they know you will love!
“This book contains a collection of cross-stitch patterns for the modern-day feminist, warrior goddess, and rebel weirdo.”
Genre: Crafts (Cross stitch)
Format: Hardcover
Source: Hannah

This gem showcases 20 powerful ladies from Queen Elizabeth I to Queen Bey with short bios to accompany each portrait, plus 10 empowering verses like “Smash the patriarchy” and “The future is female.” The designs are simple and graphic, a bit different from my usual style, but so fun to stitch.
I couldn’t resist pairing an icon with a phrase for my favorite lady in publishing, my former co-worker who gifted me the book. I made a couple color tweaks to the pattern but stuck to the three-color palette, and I love the end result. She is right at home on Hannah’s desk at work, surrounded by other women on her International Women’s Day vision board!
Next, I want to do portraits of Amelia Earheart and Marie Curie for my very own Amelia Marie!
Since this was a secret project that I worked on a few months ago, I only shared a couple sneak peeks of the progress. So here’s a little recap from start to finish:
