Auburn City Sights: Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art

I spent last week visiting my parents in Auburn with Amelia, and the break in routine was much appreciated. My brother came over from Atlanta for a couple days, and it was great to have some quality time with him too. It’s so much fun watching him be an uncle!

We visited the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, which is the perfect size for a baby’s attention span: not too big, not too little, and lots to look at!

The main exhibit, Jiha Moon: Double Welcome, Most Everyone’s Mad Here, was very cool! I loved the mix of textiles and other multimedia.

The permanent exhibits were great too, and there was even a “Teen Takeover” going on with local teen artists working in the reception hall all week for an upcoming showcase. I’ve been to the museum for a wedding before, but never had a chance to take a close look at the art, and it was a great outing.

It was a blustery day but we had to see the “bunnies” in the pond up close!

I grew up in Auburn but moved away by the time I hit middle school, so it will always be the hometown of my childhood. I’m lucky my parents moved back there so I can continue to visit; as Amelia gets older, I’m sure we’ll find plenty more to explore. Until next time!
