My dear friend and her husband drove up from MS to visit for the weekend. It’s quite a long drive to spend a couple days with us – so sweet! It was so great to see them in person and introduce Amelia. Unfortunately, A is going through a cranky phase and spent most of their visit fussing. I hope we didn’t scare them off from visiting again!
We went to downtown Franklin for lunch on Saturday and wondered what the hubbub was as we got closer to Main Street… then we noticed the top hats and hoop skirts and realized it was the Dickens of a Christmas fair. While waiting for a table at Puckett’s Grocery, we strolled down Main Street, stopped at a few stores, and enjoyed the decorations. The experience is a bit different now that we are navigating a stroller through the crowds and trying to keep a baby sleeping. I haven’t had much time to get in the Christmas spirit this year, but the decorations and music helped!
A is fine as long as the stroller is moving, and she usually falls fast asleep at restaurants, but we weren’t so lucky this time. Toward the end of our lunch, we were the proud (AKA stressed) parents of a screaming baby, so Sam had to walk her around up and down the street while we paid and packed up. I’m sure we’ll look back and laugh one of these days, but at the moment it’s making me want to hibernate all winter š
Our Dickens adventure may have been unplanned but it wasn’t our first rodeo! It looks a lot likeĀ our first visit in 2014Ā minus the stroller and time for people watching or photo taking. Here’s a trip down memory lane:
We strolled downtown Main Street to take in theĀ caroling, Victorian costumes, fair food, even (fake) snow! Ā We took a little carriage ride too; so fun! We checked it out pretty early to avoid the crowds, so we missed the “town sing” but I think next year we’ll have to stick around long enough to catch it.
