Our quick beach trip over the weekend was the perfect amount of time to soak up some sun and family time. I only took two days off of work, but by flying down on Thursday night and returning Monday night, we were able to squeeze in four full beach days… even if the transition back to the real world was a bit abrupt. The Gulf of Mexico beaches are the prettiest around, although this was the first time I’ve been to Panama City Beach. It’s gotten a reputation for Spring breaker festivities, but we caught the tail end and it quieted down by the weekend.
The weather was perfect, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking!
Panama City Beach
Shell Island
One day we took the ferry from St. Andrews State Park out to Shell Island. You can see a distinct line between the fresh and salt water, and the shallow water was stunning. We collected shells for a few hours and I got plenty of steps in – over 12k that day!
Fun story… I looked up to snap a pic of these birds overhead, and when I looked down I had several bits of bird poop on my arm… and my hat. Thank goodness for that hat or it would’ve been in my eye!
On our last full day, we spent a couple hours at the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. I’ve always been curious about these museums, and it was definitely interesting. Perfect rainy day activity, or a good way to spend a couple hours if you need to get out of the sun.
Of course I’m missing the beach and my family already… can’t wait to do it again!
We love PCB! And Shell Island! ❤
