Last September I visited a local needlework shop, Stitchin’ Post, and came home with quite a few goodies. I was enamored with the Square-ology line from Hands on Design, and bought three nautical designs. Ever since I’ve been itching to get started… I can’t wait to see this trio of minis framed and displayed.
The charts are really unique – just one quarter is shown, then you rotate the chart to complete all four parts. The first one is done: Sail Around. I used a navy blue aida fabric, and bought the recommended floss colors so all three will coordinate when finished. The 4″x4″ design was quick and fun.

The only bummer came when I was working on the third quarter, and I realized I was following the chart wrong – I was rotating the fabric instead of the chart, so my stitches are going in different directions where the quarters meet up. But once finished, I knew it wouldn’t be too noticeable, so I chalked it up to another “live and learn” moment. I’ll do it right on the next one!
I already have three white frames, so hopefully I’ll be able to finish up all three soon (in between the Pumpkin Passport yearlong project).

It’s not a quilt… but I’m linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish Friday!
Love the anchor in the middle.
